Tankless Water Heaters

Tankless Water Heater

What are Tankless Water Heaters?

For generations and mainly only in America have tank-type water heaters been utilized. Having a tank of hot water on standby at all times may be the most wasteful use of natural gas or propane.

Tankless water heaters heat water instantaneously without the use of a storage tank.

With the electrification movement happening in America, many homeowners are evaluating having a heat pump water heater (HPWH) installed. A major concern is operational cost of a HPWH, especially during very low temperature and cold periods of time when the HPWH will be operating off of the electric resistance heat strips instead of the heat pump.

Currently natural gas costs are lower than electricity costs. Since a tankless water heater is only “fired” when there is a call for hot water, it uses a very minimal amount of natural gas. If you already have natural gas piped to your home, a tankless water heater may be a wise choice for your family.

How it Works

When a hot water faucet is turned on, cold water flows through a heat exchanger in the unit, and either a natural gas burner or an electric element heats the water.
